 - "Sweet Disposition" The Temper Trap

Sweet disposition
Never too soon
Oh, reckless abandon
Like no one's watching you
A moment a love
A dream aloud
A kiss a cry
Our rights
Our wrongs
A moment, a love
A dream aloud
A moment, a love
A dream, aloud

This is one of my favorite songs. I recently went to Portland, Oregon for a seminar about FCC funding for Library and School internet connectivity (called Erate it is managed by USAC), and when I looked for a Spotify playlist I found one entitled "Portlandia", the first song was this one.

I left late Saturday night (1:25 am) and arrived in Portland around 8:30 am. I had a connecting flight in Seattle that was delayed and the plane was not big enough for all the baggage. Guess whose bag was not on the plane... mine. So when I arrived in Seattle and could not find my bag I went to the Alaska Airlines baggage window. They gave me a breakfast voucher and some airline miles. I discovered that PDX (Portland Airport) has a Blue Star Donuts. This donut place used to have only one location and their donuts were highly sought after, so much so that there were lines and they would run out of donuts by 9 or 10am. I was pleasantly surprised to see them at the airport.

On Sunday, my brother Aaron and I went to 10 Barrel Brewing. We had the beer sampler and mussels with frites. Then we went across the street to Rogue and had beers while having a great conversation with the bartender Matthew and some other people sitting at the bar. After that we went to Deschutes where Aaron works and had a beer while we waited for the next bus to come.

Monday I spent a lot of time just walking around the city. I had breakfast at Pine State Biscuits and had The Reggie Deluxe. It is a big biscuit with fried chicken, bacon, fried egg, cheese, and sausage gravy. I then went to Culmination Brewing had a nice chat with the staff (it was mostly empty). I told them I didn't have much time and wanted suggestions. They told me to go to Grain & Gristle and they told me to get the G&G Burger and Upright Brewing beer. After that they said I had to get the beer sampler at Great Notion. That's what I did, and I hung out with my brother that evening. We went out to get pizza which was one of our favorite things to do as kids.

Tuesday I spent most of the day at my seminar. When I was done I went for a walk as the sun was setting. I was a little sad that my time was ending so soon. Portland is one of my favorite places and my brother is one of my favorite people and it was almost time to go already. I decided to get donuts at Voo Doo which is another famous Portland donut spot. As I walked, I took in the murals, graffiti, air, atmosphere... I came up to a huge window that was for the Franz bread company. As I stared at loaves coming out of the oven, english muffins and hoagies zipping by on the conveyor, I just started smiling like a little kid. For some reason it made me forget everything else and just enjoy a simple joyful moment.

I'm back in Anchorage, the below photos are from the plane ride in. Pretty much every time I fly to Anchorage I'm in awe at the beautiful mountains, ice, and streams. Anchorage welcomed me back with more snow!
