Cheeseburger in Paradise
Cheeseburger in Paradise - Jimmy Buffett
Unfortunately I didn't take pictures but maybe I will in the future.
Every Friday for the last two months or so I have taken the family to different local burger places in Anchorage. Lorrie had the idea and I had been thinking about it too, list each place and talk about what we liked, didn't like, cost, etc.
Tommy's Burgers $$$$ - Lorrie liked the burgers here best. The fries were good. The thing that
bothered me were long wait, small cramped restaurant, and by far the most
expensive place we went.
Hamburger Haven $ - Best value by far. They had the best onion rings and fried okra. The fries were meh and the burgers were good but not great.
Spenard Roadhouse $$$ - This place was a gorgeous sit down restaurant with great kids meals. The
service started great and as the meal went (and they got busier) the server took
longer and longer to get back to us with things. This place had the best burger
in my opinion.
Arctic Roadrunner $$$ - The burgers had the biggest patties. The fries were meh and the onion rings were a disaster. Cash only and they were one of the pricier places.
Burger Cache $$ - This place's claim to fame is that they give raffle tickets with each purchase for a
bi-monthly drawing for $1000. The burgers were meh and the fries were burnt.
Max's Beefy Burgers $$ - This place tries to be all things: Chinese, American, Seafood, and
Hawaiian. Everything was just average but the thing that made it annoying
was I asked for burgers "plain" meaning just meat and bun, they did not
deliver.
Burger Jim $$$ - The worst place we went. It was expensive for what you received. It was in a bad
part of town. The burger tasted bad. The fries were thrown away they were so under cooked. The ketchup tasted to me like it had gone bad (very vinegar flavor).
49th State $$$$ - This is a brew pub and I've been a few times. I think their burgers and fries are
great. I really like their beer. James liked the burger there too. The only problem is
we waited an hour for a table when we were told it would be 20-30 minutes which is forever if you have a hungry 5 year old complaining the whole time. Also this
place is expensive (at least to us) so it's more of a special occasion or if there is a
deal. Their original location is in Healy, AK just outside of Denali National Park.
I've been to that location twice.
We have talked to some of our friends about other places we might try and maybe I'll add to this post in the future. Maybe if we go back to some of the places I'll take pictures.
